Managing Reportable Conduct Case Status

Learn how to move a reportable conduct case through each status stage, including Open, Under Review, report due stages, Closed, and Non Reportable.

Written by Windolyn Cortes

Before You Start

You need access to Child Safety and Reportable Conduct.

A reportable conduct case must already exist before you can update its status.

The available status options may change depending on the case’s current status.

Open the case workspace

From the left sidebar, open Child Safety.

Select Reportable Conduct.

Open the case you want to update.

This opens the RCS Case Workspace.

At the top of the case, you can see the current case status, risk level, case reference, and status action button.

Review the current case status

Check the status badge near the case title.

A case may show statuses such as:

  • Draft

  • Open

  • Under Review

  • Initial Report Due

  • Initial Submitted

  • Interim Report Due

  • Final Pending

  • Closed

  • Non Reportable

Also review the timeline dates shown below the case header, such as:

  • Aware

  • Initial Due

  • Interim Due

These dates help track reporting milestones and deadlines.

Move a Draft case to Open

If the case is still in Draft, select Move to Open.

After the update is completed, a confirmation message appears.

Example message:

Status updated

Case moved to Open.

The status action button then changes to the next available action, such as Move to Under Review.

Move the case to Under Review

Select Move to Under Review when the case is ready for active review.

This status indicates that the matter is being reviewed and assessed.

After the case is moved to Under Review, the status dropdown will show the next available status options.

Use the status dropdown

Select the dropdown arrow beside the status action button.

The options shown depend on the current case status.

Available options may include:

  • Initial Report Due

  • Investigation Active

  • Initial Submitted

  • Interim Report Due

  • Final Pending

  • Closed

  • Non Reportable

Choose the next status that matches the case stage.

Move through reporting stages

As the case progresses, update the status to match the reporting workflow.

Common status changes may include:

  • Move to Initial Report Due

  • Move to Initial Submitted

  • Move to Interim Report Due

  • Move to Final Pending

Use the due date timeline to monitor whether the case is approaching or past a reporting deadline.

If a due date has passed, the case may show an Overdue indicator.

Move the case to Closed

When the case is ready to be closed, select Move to Closed.

A confirmation modal appears asking you to confirm the closure.

Select Close Case to complete the action.

This closes the case and records the closure details.

Confirm the closed case

After closing the case, the status changes to Closed.

A confirmation message appears.

Example message:

Case closed

Case has been closed.

The action button may change to Move to Open, which allows the case to be reopened if needed.

Mark a case as Non Reportable

Select Non Reportable from the status dropdown if the matter has been assessed and does not meet reportable conduct requirements.

Use this only after the case has been reviewed and the decision has been confirmed.

Important Notes

  • The status action button changes depending on the current case stage.

  • The dropdown options are not always the same for every status.

  • Closing a case requires confirmation through the Close Case modal.

  • A closed case can be reopened if Move to Open is available.

  • Use Non Reportable only when the matter has been assessed and confirmed as not reportable.

  • The Aware, Initial Due, and Interim Due dates help track statutory reporting timelines.

Troubleshooting

  • If you cannot see the status action button, check your permissions for Reportable Conduct.

  • If the status option you need is missing, the case may need to move through an earlier stage first.

  • If the case does not close, make sure you confirm the action in the Close Case modal.

  • If the case was closed by mistake, select Move to Open if the option is available.

  • If due dates look incorrect, check the Aware Date in the case details.

  • If a case shows Overdue, review the reporting timeline and update the case status as needed.
