Reportable Conduct Timeline

Learn how to use the Timeline tab to review chronological case activity, status changes, creation events, and closure history for a reportable conduct case.

Written by Windolyn Cortes

Before You Start

You need access to Child Safety and Reportable Conduct.

A reportable conduct case must already exist before you can view its Timeline.

The Timeline records activity for a specific case, including case creation, status updates, and closure actions.

Open the case workspace

From the left sidebar, open Child Safety.

Select Reportable Conduct.

Open the case you want to review.

This opens the RCS Case Workspace.

Select the Timeline tab

At the top of the case workspace, select Timeline.

The Timeline tab sits beside other case workspace tabs, including:

  • Overview

  • Timeline

  • Linked Records

  • Files

  • Notes

  • Risk Actions

  • Forms

  • Reports

  • Audit

Review the activity log

The Activity Log shows a chronological history of actions taken on the case.

Each activity entry may show:

  • The action completed

  • A short description of the change

  • The user who completed the action

  • The date and time of the action

Examples of activity entries include:

  • Create RCS case

  • Update RCS case status

  • Close RCS case

Review case creation activity

Look for the Create RCS case entry to confirm when the case was first created.

This entry shows the case reference and the user who created the case.

Review status changes

Look for Update RCS case status entries.

These show when the case moved between statuses.

For example, the Timeline may show:

  • Case status changed from draft to open

  • Case status changed from open to initial_report_due

  • Case status changed from initial_report_due to investigation_active

  • Case status changed from investigation_active to final_report_pending

Use this to confirm how the case progressed through the reporting workflow.

Review closure activity

If the case has been closed, the Timeline will show a Close RCS case entry.

This confirms the case was closed and records who completed the action.

Check dates and times

The date and time of each activity appear on the right side of the activity log.

Use this to confirm when each action was completed.

This is helpful when checking reporting timelines and reviewing whether actions were completed before due dates.

Important Notes

  • The Timeline is read-only and is used for reviewing case history.

  • The Timeline supports case review, internal checks, and audit preparation.

  • Status changes are shown in the order they occurred.

  • The Audit tab may contain more detailed technical or system-level records, while the Timeline gives a user-friendly case activity history.

  • If the case is new, the Timeline may only show the case creation entry.

Troubleshooting

  • If the Timeline looks empty, check that you opened the correct case.

  • If a recent update is missing, refresh the page and check again.

  • If a status change is not shown, check the Audit tab for more detailed system activity.

  • If the dates look incorrect, review the case Aware Date and case status history.

  • If you cannot access the Timeline tab, check your permissions for Child Safety and Reportable Conduct.
