Add Members to a Cora Chat Channel

Learn how to add staff members to an existing Cora Chat channel so they can join the conversation and receive future messages.

Go to Cora Chat

From the left navigation menu, click Cora Chat.

This opens your Cora Chat inbox.

Open the Channel

Select the conversation or group channel you want to update.

The channel will open in the main chat area.

Check the conversation header to confirm you are in the correct channel.

Open the Conversation Menu

Click the three-dot menu in the top right corner of the conversation.

A menu will open with available actions.

Options may include:

  • Flag conversation

  • Add members

  • View details

  • Rename conversation

  • Leave channel

Click Add Members

Click Add members.

A member selection window or panel will open.

Use this area to search for and select the staff members you want to add to the channel.

Select Staff Members

Search for the staff member by name.

Select the staff member you want to add.

Repeat this step if you need to add more than one staff member.

When ready, confirm the selection to add them to the channel.

Confirm the Channel Membership

After the staff member is added, they should be included in the channel membership.

They may be able to:

  • View the channel

  • Send and receive messages

  • See future conversation updates

  • Access previous messages, depending on system settings and permissions

Important Notes

  • Adding a member gives them access to the channel.

  • Only add staff members who need to be part of the conversation.

  • Channel access may depend on staff permissions and organisation settings.

  • Some channels may have restricted membership.

  • If the channel contains sensitive information, check before adding new members.

Troubleshooting

If you cannot see Add members:

  • Confirm that you have opened a group channel.

  • Check that you are a member of the conversation.

  • Refresh the page and try again.

  • Ask an administrator to review your Cora Chat permissions.

If a staff member does not appear in the search:

  • Check the spelling of their name.

  • Confirm that the staff member has an active user account.

  • Confirm that they have access to Cora Chat.

  • Ask an administrator to check their user status.

If the new member cannot see the channel:

  • Ask them to refresh Cora Chat.

  • Confirm that they were successfully added.

  • Check whether their account is active.

  • Ask an administrator to review their role permissions.
