Before You Start
You need access to Child Safety and Reconciliation.
The Contingency page gives you an audit-style view of contingency usage, including:
Hours funded
Cost
Draws
Recorded contingency activity for the selected range
If no contingency has been used in the selected range, the page will show an empty state.
Open the Contingency page
From the left sidebar, open Child Safety.
Select Reconciliation.
At the top of the Reconciliation area, select Contingency.
This opens the contingency audit page.
Review the page layout
At the top of the page, you will see:
A search field
A Filters button
An Export CSV button
A Departmental export button
Below this, you will see summary cards for:
Hours funded
Cost
Draws
The main results area shows contingency draw records for the selected range.
If there is no data, the page shows No contingency draws in this range.
Search contingency draws
Use the search field to find records by keywords such as:
House
Region
Reason
This helps narrow the displayed contingency records more quickly.
Open filters
Select Filters to open the filter panel.
The filter panel allows you to refine the page by:
Period range
House
Region
If a number appears beside the Filters button, it means one or more filters are active.
Select a period range
In the filter panel, use Period range to choose the time period you want to review.
You can:
Select a preset period from Select Period
Use the date range field to apply a custom date range
Clear the selected range using the X on the date field when available
This controls which contingency draws appear on the page.
Filter by house
Use the House dropdown to filter the page by a specific house.
Options may include:
All houses
A named house, such as Bright Futures Care Home
Use this when you only want to review contingency activity for one house.
Filter by region
Use the Region dropdown to narrow results by region.
Options may include:
All regions
Choose a region if you want to limit the page to that specific area.
Clear filters
Select Clear filters in the filter panel to remove active filters.
This returns the page to a broader view.
Use this if expected records are not appearing or if you want to start a new search.
Review the summary cards
The summary cards provide a quick snapshot of the selected results:
Hours funded shows the total funded hours from contingency
Cost shows the total contingency cost
Draws shows the number of recorded contingency draws
These figures update based on the active filters.
Review contingency records
The main content area lists contingency draw activity for the selected range.
If there are no matching records, the page displays:
No contingency draws in this range
This means no contingency usage has been recorded for the selected filters.
Export data
Use Export CSV to export available contingency records.
Use Departmental export if you need a departmental export of the contingency data.
If there is no data in the selected range, the export may not be available or may show a message such as Nothing to export.
Important Notes
The Contingency page is an audit-grade record of contingency draws, costs, and remaining budget activity shown for the selected range.
The summary cards change based on the active filters.
The Filters badge shows how many filters are currently applied.
The Export CSV button may be unavailable when there are no records to export.
The page can show an empty state even when filters are working correctly, if no contingency was used during that period.
Troubleshooting
If no results appear, check the selected period range, house, and region filters.
If expected records are missing, select Clear filters and try again.
If the page shows No contingency draws in this range, confirm that contingency has actually been used during the selected period.
If Export CSV is unavailable, there may be no records in the current filtered range.
If you see a Nothing to export message, adjust the filters and try a different period.
If search is not returning expected results, clear the search field and reapply filters one at a time.
If you cannot access the page, check your permissions for Child Safety and Reconciliation.
