Before You Start
You need access to Cora Chat before you can create a new chat channel.
Your ability to create channels may depend on your assigned role and permissions.
Open Cora Chat
From the left navigation menu, click Cora Chat.
This opens the Cora Chat inbox.
Review the Cora Chat Inbox
The Cora Chat page shows your conversation inbox on the left side.
The inbox may include:
Inbox
Unread
Flagged
Groups
You can also use the Search conversations field to find an existing chat.
If no conversation is selected, the main area will show a message asking you to select a conversation or start a new one.
Click Create
At the top of the Cora Chat inbox, click Create.
This opens the New chat channel window.
You can also click New conversation from the empty conversation area.
Choose Staff Members
In the New chat channel window, use the Staff dropdown field to choose the staff members you want to include in the chat.
The field may show No options until staff members are available or selected.
Select the staff members who should be part of the new chat channel.
Create the Channel
After selecting the staff members, click Create channel.
If the Create channel button is disabled, check that at least one staff member has been selected.
To close the window without creating a channel, click Cancel.
Open the New Channel
Once the channel is created, it will appear in your conversation list.
Click the channel name to open it.
The conversation header will show the channel name and conversation type.
Start the Conversation
Use the message field at the bottom of the chat to type your message.
You may also see options for:

Send message
Click the send icon to post your message.
Use Conversation Tabs
Use the tabs in the inbox to manage your conversations.
Inbox shows your main conversations.
Unread shows conversations with unread messages.
Flagged shows conversations you have marked for follow-up.
Groups show group chat channels.
Important Notes
You can only create chat channels if your role allows access to Cora Chat.
Some chat actions may depend on permissions set by an administrator.
The channel can be renamed after it is created, depending on your permissions.
If you cannot see the Create button, ask an administrator to check your role permissions.
If no staff members appear in the Staff dropdown, check that staff users exist and are active in the workspace.
Troubleshooting
If you cannot create a Cora Chat channel:
Refresh the browser.
Check your internet connection.
Make sure you have access to Cora Chat.
Make sure staff members are available to select.
Check that your role has permission to create conversations.
Contact your administrator if the issue continues.
