Getting Started with Onboarding

Learn how to complete the onboarding checklist, set up your profile, manage notifications, customise your workspace, and access your dashboard

Open Onboarding

From the left sidebar, click Onboarding.

This opens the Getting started page under your profile area.

The page shows your onboarding progress, such as 0 / 4 done, and a progress bar showing how many steps have been completed.

Review the Onboarding Checklist

The checklist shows the setup steps you need to complete.

The current onboarding checklist includes:

  • Complete your profile

  • Set up notifications

  • Customise your workspace

  • Hide onboarding from your menu

Each item includes a short description and a Complete button.

Some steps may appear lighter or inactive until the earlier step has been completed.

Complete Your Profile

Click Complete beside Complete your profile.

This step helps you add your name, photo, and contact details so your team knows who you are.

After completing your profile, return to the onboarding checklist to continue.

Set Up Notifications

Click Complete beside Set up notifications.

This step takes you to your notification settings, where you can choose how and when you want to be alerted across the platform.

You can manage options such as:

  • In-app notifications

  • Toast notifications

  • Sound notifications

  • Other notification channels when available

Return to the onboarding checklist after updating your settings.

Customise Your Workspace

Click Complete beside Customise your workspace.

This step helps you personalise how the app looks and feels.

You may be able to update:

  • Sidebar visibility

  • Sidebar ordering

  • Font size

  • Pointer cursor behaviour

  • Title font

  • Interface theme

Return to the onboarding checklist once your layout preferences are set.

Hide Onboarding from Your Menu

Click Complete beside Hide onboarding from your menu.

This step lets you remove Onboarding from the sidebar once your setup is finished.

Use this option when you no longer need the guided checklist.

Use Chat Support if Needed

If you need help during setup, click Chat with us at the bottom of the onboarding card.

This opens support so you can ask for help with your workspace setup.

Open API Documentation

At the bottom of the page, you may see a Want to unlock more? Try the DS API card.

Click API docs if you need technical documentation for using the DS API.

This is useful for teams that want to read staff, roster, shift notes, and forms programmatically.

Important Notes

  • The onboarding checklist is designed for new user setup.

  • Progress is shown at the top of the checklist.

  • Completed steps increase the progress count.

  • Some checklist items may be unavailable until previous steps are complete.

  • Hiding onboarding from your menu does not delete your account or settings.

  • The API docs card is separate from the onboarding checklist.

Troubleshooting

If you cannot see Onboarding in the sidebar:

  • Check whether it has already been hidden from your menu.

  • Refresh the page and try again.

  • Ask an administrator to confirm whether onboarding is available for your role.

If a Complete button does not work:

  • Refresh the page.

  • Try opening the related page manually from your profile settings.

  • Check whether the previous onboarding step needs to be completed first.

If the progress count does not update:

  • Return to the Getting started page.

  • Refresh the page.

  • Confirm the related setup step was saved successfully.

If you need help:

  • Click Chat with us from the onboarding page.

  • Ask an administrator to check your access if a setup area is unavailable.
